Boston Ink Body Art Specialist

A Mattapan tattoo and piercing studio with 1,200 five-star reviews and genuinely strong work, on a homepage that opened with a wall of tiny thumbnails and hid both the booking button and the reviews. I rebuilt it to lead with the work.

Boston Ink is a tattoo and piercing studio in Mattapan, Boston, with more than 1,200 five-star reviews and a portfolio that genuinely stops you: color realism, fine line, lettering, the kind of work people travel for. Their homepage opened on a small grid of pixelated thumbnails, with no headline and no reason to stay.

I redesigned the homepage on my own, because that work and that reputation deserved a far better first impression than the old template was giving them.

What was getting in the way

A first-time visitor landed on a wall of tiny thumbnails with nothing to read and no sense of how good the studio actually is. The Book button was a small link near the top and a floating tab off to the side, easy to miss for someone who was ready to book right then. And the 1,200 five-star reviews, the single strongest thing they have, were nowhere on the page. On a phone, where most of these visitors land, the old hero text was cut off and the booking action was even harder to find.

What I changed

I led with the work: a full-bleed collage of their real tattoos behind a clear headline, so the first thing you feel is the quality. I put the 4.8 rating and the 1,200 reviews up top where they build trust in a second. I made one obvious Book button instead of a buried link, added a tap-to-call number for the quick questions, and split the page into clean sections for tattoos, piercings, and the studio. It is built mobile first, so the phone version leads with the work instead of a broken hero.

It is made to take someone in Boston from "found them" to "booked" in a single visit, because that is where this kind of decision actually happens.

Before and after

Same studio, same incredible work, same 1,200 reviews. The redesign just stops hiding them and puts them first. If your site is burying what you are best at, these are the tells, and I'm happy to look at yours.
